God bless America' at Twylight Lounge
DIGNITY/MCC SHOW SUCCESSFUL
TWYLIGHT LOUNGE, 2467 Cleveland Ave., hosted a most successful fundraising variety show on February 26. Cosponsored by Dignity/Columbus and MCC/Columbus, this event both raised money for the two involved groups and also provided a most enjoyable evening of entertainment and fellowship. The TWYLIGHT LOUNGE, was packed as the audience was treated to a variety of acts, both female impersonation and live acts sung to prerecorded accompaniment. A highlight of the evening was a memorable performance of "God Bless America," sung as Kate Smith would have sung it. The entire audience stood and sang along during the several encores. For some reason, two Columbus police officers chose this moment to stroll through the bar to check up on things. If people now were to ask the police what we do in the bars, at least two officers could state that we stand up and sing "God Bless America." The show was most successful, and many hope there will be a similar event soon.

The Columbus clinic has been
treating an increasing number of cases of syphilis recently, treating 91 cases in 1977, 240 cases in 1978 and over 75 cases already in 1979. This increasing number shows why disease control is so important. Removing the stigma from Sexually Transmissable Disease, (STD) and merely treating them as communicable diseases is one of the goals of the V.D. control program. These people don't
care how one has contracted a STD, they merely want to control the disease.
